This purchase expands ��˹ά��˹���ֳ�’s service offerings through a full suite of IT Asset Management (ITAM) and IT Asset Disposal (ITAD) capabilities including asset recovery, asset management, data destruction, hardware disposition and lifecycle management. 

“This acquisition signals our intention to strengthen our position in ITAD by helping the world’s largest data center users to manage their assets more responsibly,” says Sean Murphy, Vice President of Services, Connectivity & Cloud Solutions. “Environmental sustainability is of paramount importance to our customers. The days when companies bought IT assets, used them for three years, and then threw them away have passed. There’s a deep commitment within the technology industry to keeping assets in productive use for at least seven to ten years.”

Best-in-class asset management model

NCS Global has developed a best-in-class model that is helping companies around the world to realize the maximum lifetime value of their products. Their portfolio of ITAM and ITAD services provide a wide range of solutions to promote sustainable management, waste reduction, emission minimization, and e-waste challenges.

For example, NCS Global’s out-of-warranty parts management service provides a sustainable, cost-effective solution for maintaining older enterprise storage equipment. “When products age out of warranty, customers can be provided with either repairs or a ‘spares’ option. If they have 500 products and 20 are being taken out of production, those 20 can be used to create spare parts pools to support the 480 products still in use,” says Sean.

“We can also perform on-site maintenance and ensure aging products are circulated in some other way to keep them in productive use. Then, at the very end of a product’s life, we will work with environmentally responsible recyclers to harvest usable components and then recycle the bare metals.”

EcoErase^TM Data Erasure Platform provides secure data destruction

The acquisition of NCS Global also includes EcoErase, NCS’ proprietary and customizable data erasure software platform. Disk erasure is critical to data security in ITAD. EcoErase permanently overwrites sensitive data from storage devices and drives, sanitizing them and verifying the erase on 100% of the drives before proper disposal or refurbishing. In comparison, other software erasure tools only do a 20% sampling to confirm that all the data is erased. Aligning to National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and the United States Department of Defense (DOD) requirements, the comprehensive erasure and flexibility EcoErase offers is second to none.

The acquisition also provides greater flexibility to our customers, as they can now purchase services either directly or indirectly. NCS Global sells directly to the end user, while Sturgeon, a company acquired by NCS in 2023, sells to systems integrators and Value-Added Resellers (VARs).
